Welcome to the website of the artist Sally Bassett! There are many examples of Sally's acrylic paintings for sale on the site, as well as work in collage, silk dye and mixed media. If you click on any of the pictures, you will get the full story.
Much of Sally's work features flower painting, landscapes and seascapes, capturing vibrant colour, energy and movement. Her customers are truly international, and her paintings are to be found in homes and boardrooms in many parts of the world.
Sally's corner of the world is a small village in the Hertfordshire countryside, although she also has a base in Cornwall, where she paints wild seas, calm mornings, boats and fishermen – she is deeply absorbed in all aspects of the coast, and can't stay land-locked for long.
Sally is a full-time, professional artist, and most of the work on this site is for sale. If you would like to talk to Sally about buying or commissioning art work, her number is 01442 851353, or e-mail Sally at sally@sallybassett.co.uk. Sally's work may also be purchased via Island of Art and artfair365.

From left to right. 1. Three Goats in the Olives. 2. Blue Flax and Butterflies in the Olive Grove. 3. Two Goats Under the Olives.
These three paintings have been painted from sketches made in my sketch book while on holiday in Skaithos in Greece. Each is 12 by 12 inches and is acrylic on board.
The two paintings with goats were done from sketches made in the early morning before it got too hot. The goats were edged silver by the light as they munched the parched grass. The shadows from the olive trees were deep blue. The whole scene seemed to be of Greece as it once was.
The central painting of blue flax and butterflies in the olive orchard was painted from a sketch made in the early morning when the shadows were long and the day young, a quiet time before most people were up.
For me the early morning and late evening were the best times of the day.
