From left to right. 1. Three Goats in the Olives. 2. Blue Flax and Butterflies in the Olive Grove. 3. Two Goats Under the Olives.
These three paintings have been painted from sketches made in my sketch book while on holiday in Skaithos in Greece. Each is 12 by 12 inches and is acrylic on board.
The two paintings with goats were done from sketches made in the early morning before it got too hot. The goats were edged silver by the light as they munched the parched grass. The shadows from the olive trees were deep blue. The whole scene seemed to be of Greece as it once was.
The central painting of blue flax and butterflies in the olive orchard was painted from a sketch made in the early morning when the shadows were long and the day young, a quiet time before most people were up.
For me the early morning and late evening were the best times of the day.
